HAT TRICK HO-DOWN
Flyers fans certainly got their $3 worth on Saturday afternoon in a tremendous display of hat-trickery put on by two determined little hockey players.

Never have I seen this before in Tyke hockey and not sure I'll see it again. Two of our FLYERS got a hat trick during Saturdays game. The smiles could been seen from hundreds of feet away and the cheers could be heard for miles.
The first period was incredible; the play was fierce and the kids were beyond energetic. By the end of the first, 5 goals had been scored in all... 4 for the FLYERS and one for the Pens. Both hat trick kings scored in this period.... Slick Sam Willsie getting his first two of the game and The Brilliant Bryce Steinmann knockin' home his first two as well.
One very exciting moment of the first period was at 4:22 when The Captivating Cayden Murphy, out of the blue, appears in front of the net with the mighty blue beast seemingly attached to his stick! Cayden pulls back his stick and releases.... goal number one for him this season and goal number 3 for the FLYERS this game.
Some wondered if some of the kids were running out of steam in the second period. Cabin fever from being inside with the cold weather? Lack of daylight? Long week at school? We'll never know, but not much happened in the way of goal scoring. Lots of time spent this period in each others zones. Lots of great stick handling! Lots of smiles. Only one goal scored in the second and it was The Brilliant Bryce who knocked off his third and most skillfully netted goal of the game. Wow, has this FLYER come alive this season!
After a brief and clearly powerful pep talk between the second and third periods, out came the players with the enthusiasm all parents expect from Tyke players. Both teams picked it up this period and gave the paying fans what they came for. It did not take long for Sam Willsie to make one of his blasts on net after taking a feed from Rowan Walsh... great pass Rowan. Thirteen seconds into the third is the moment the second FLYER gets his well deserved hat trick. Good on ya Sammy! There was a lot of back and forth play until wee Camryn Ryall found herself thick in the middle of a herd (maybe a gaggle... perhaps a flock....????) of tykes; from both teams. Some began to feel we were at a Rugby match and watching a scrum, until out pops Camryn with the worshiped blue frozen plastic. Camryn heads directly for the net and just buries it.
A fantastic game in net played by Alex Dutton this game. His second time in net and excited to be the goalie again. His parents should be proud because he wowed the fans with some great saves while only allowing 2 past him during this exciting game.
Showing no sign of despair or defeat, both teams came off the ice with smiles on their faces and rosy cheeks. If you had not watched the game you would not have known which team won! This goes to show that, at this age, it really, truly is not about who wins or loses, but about the kids having fun! They certainly all did on Saturday.
