A BLIZZARD OF EFFORT!
The parents spent the morning shoveling.....knowing there was a big game to get to! An extreme winter day could not keep the FLYERS and their fans away from an opportunity to play and watch hockey!

Despite the skill, hard work, determination, awesome home-made noise makers and fanatical cheering, the FLYERS experienced their second loss of the season. The game was tight, energetic and well played by both teams. Funny thing though….. one would think the mood in the dressing room would have been low after today’s loss. If you had walked into the dressing room after the game, you would not have been able to tell that the FLYERS had not come out victorious… all of the kids were high in spirit and had clearly just done nothing but have fun on the ice; the coaches were laughing and the parents were smiling.
The game opened up as usual with the FLYERS leaping out one by one onto the ice, engaging in their disciplined warm up and the goalie, Cayden Murphy, pumpin’ up the crowd! With a fire in her eye, Camryn started at centre and won the first puck drop of the game. Both teams were slow of the mark and fumbled around for about 90 seconds, trying to get warmed up and get into their grove. So… the 90 seconds pass and Crafty Carson sees the play; he sees Alex coming up ice with the puck but he also sees 4 players surrounding Alex, so he makes himself open. Alex sees Carson and makes a risky cross ice pass which Carson picks up with ease and instantly shoots. Goal #1 scored for the FLYERS at 8:30 in the first. Although Cayden made an amazing attempt at a save, the Sharks respond very quickly with a goal of their own. The next three intense minutes was spent with both teams going from end to end until Joel, like a Jackhammer, drills out the puck from the boards. Joel flings it up ice and it’s picked up by Mighty Molly who makes a one timer pass to Owen the Awesome. Owen starts toward the Sharks zone and is met, fast and furious, by one of his Tyke Select team mates. It’s Tyke Select versus Tyke Select, and the play is heading toward the net. Owen breaks free and puts the FLYERS up by one at 4:43 left in the first. One minute left in the first and Row, Row, Row your boat Rowan uses his “oar” to glide the puck forward where it’s picked up by Carson, who scores his second of the game and the third goal for the FLYERS
The FLYERS make many attempts in the second but the goalie or the post saves them all. The Sharks score two this period leaving the score tied at 3-3 going into the third. Noise makers temporarily put down, fans on edge and coaches pacing back an forth on their 20 inch wide platform… we head into the third and final period of the game where two very equal teams wonder who will come out the victor… or maybe it will be a tie!?!?!
The Sharks score first in the third, and then they score again. The FLYERS are down 5-3. With competition and worry, the FLYERS make many attempts on net, but find their skates sometimes faster than their sticks and end up leaving the puck behind . In the last few minutes, Bryce and Alex muscle the puck away from the Sharks with utter skill and get it mid-ice where Camryn picks it up and passes it ever so elegantly to Owen. Owen make no haste, heads straight for the net. He goes left, then right and then left, leaving the goalie extremely confused. Owen finds the hole and buries it. 5-4 for them, but this is how it ends.
Great game FLYERS! Great game Coaches! Great cheering fans! 13-2-3.…. HOLY!
