SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!
Standing 45 inches tall and weighing in at 46 lbs, Mighty Molly strapped on the pads and stood tall between the pipes today. With fire in her eye and her fierce need to protect the net, Molly helped the FLYERS’ get their first shut out of the regular season.

The one thing that stood out as absolutely remarkable today was the fact that every single FLYERS player (other than Mighty Molly) got at least one point today , scoring either a goal or getting an assist. That’s what I like to see!
The first period was a quiet one. There was a lot of hard work by both teams, a lot of gusto and a lot of smiles. Rather early in the period, Carson goes solo at the net, after taking a pass by Camryn. He finds a Penguin on his heels but is able to pick up the speed and manoeuvre his stick in a way that he slides the puck, bottom shelf, past the goalie. The fans go wild and cheers for Carson and the FLYERS can be heard throughout the arena. No goals for the next 10 minutes but the play is hot! There were many attempts on net but the two killer goalies saved them all.
The second period was intense. Looking up into the stands, it was easy to tell which sections had the heaters on. All of the fans were wedged onto two sections; all with smiles, all on the edge of their seats, and all cheering for BOTH teams….. they just wanted to cheer for the kids and the great display of hockey we were privileged to watch. #6, Camryn (Cami as some call her), pulls the puck away from the boards and heads to the net. She takes a shot; rebound; she takes another shot; rebound; so she goes again, and in true Cami fashion, slips the puck into the net. She does this because she NEVER gives up! Awesome Owen is up next and in the about 3 minutes he gets himself a fantastic Hat-trick; 3:33 - goal, 0:33 - goal; 0:13 - goal. Good job O!
The third was a period to watch! Slick Sam does not hesitate and with incredible speed, steals the puck from a Penguin in their own zone and dumps it over the goalies left pad! His parents just back from a southern getaway, cheer wildly in the stands! The next two goals were a treat for the fans. Brilliant Bryce takes a pass….. from no one…… because he picked up the puck at centre and fandangled his way through all 5 Penguins and aligns himself in a position to secure a mid-cheese, 50mph goal! Only a minute later, #13, Grayson Doherty, takes a pass on the right from Alex. Grayson one-times it as hard as he can and nearly blows a hole in the back of the net. Mighty Molly, still working on her shut out, takes on some serious action at this point! A rocky line change leaves one lonely Penguin with the puck. This Penguin is not just a regular Penguin, but also a member of the Dorchester Tyke Select team. Molly sees him coming and she moves to the edge of her crease, and stands tall! The Penguin gets absolute control of the puck and picks up the speed. The fans cheering for the Penguins are on their feet, screaming wildly with hopes of a goal. The FLYERS fans stay seated anticipating a goal but also hoping for the continued shut out. The “OOOOOHHHHHH’s” were loud and simultaneous from the FLYERS’ fans. The Penguin comes up on Molly and, perfectly aligned, lets loose his shot. Mighty Molly makes the save by taking it on the chest. The puck drops to the ice and the Penguin tries to pick up his rebound and shoot again. Molly drop her 46lbs, plus equipment weight, on the puck and the whistle blows! Molly makes the save. Two minutes later the final buzzer sounds and that’s it folks! So proud of you all!
