8 IS ENOUGH!
Only eight skaters today for the FLYERS! Was that enough?

Today's game proved to be a real test of endurance for both teams! Dorchester FLYERS had only 8 skaters while Dorchester LL5 had only 9. Did the coaches have these little hockey players' endurance and cardio up to speed yet! Well, it seems like they did. Not one of the players gave up and not one of the players even slowed down. They all went full tilt until the final buzzer, but like most games, only one team can come out on top.
Only two goals in the first period; one for each team. The other team scored first and instantly the crowd was nervous. This got the spectators' attention and all were on the edge of their barely heated and frigid blue painted stand seats. Not long after, number 7, Sam Willsie, returned fire and bee-lined toward the net. He took a shot but the goalie saved this one. Sam didn't let up and retrieved his own rebound. He slammed this one into the back of the net. Games tied at 1-1; FLYERS fans less nervous now but still suffering from very cold toes and hind ends.
The second period was full of excitement, but not until the last 4 minutes. Three goals all together this period. Like last period, the other team scored first, but 21 seconds later, we answered that. Again, Sam takes a shot from just inside their blue line. The shot was extremely hard and directly on net. There is some speculation that there may have been a tip on this shot by another FLYER. But in the end, the goals was given to Sam, his second of the game. Tied again at 2-2.
There seems to be some sort of hat trick theme going with the FLYERS this year!  And Sam wasn't about to let this theme change. About 90 seconds after his second goal, he scores his third and his most amazing goal of the game, giving us the lead once again. 3-2 FLYERS now, but it is still anyone's game.
The third period became a little slower as the wee hockey stars became slightly tired, slower but still full of energy. Very little goal scoring action this period but the fans watched some great effort and stamina by all players. The FLYERS were about to ensure the win. It wasn't until the last 90 seconds of play that the incredible Camryn Ryall made her move. She got the puck at the centre line and made her way, alone, to the net. Camryn headed directly to the left side of the net and dropped her shoulder. The goalie went down. Camryn didn't take a shot; she never intended to! I think the crowd heard a faint giggle as she proceeded around the back of the net; goalie still down on the ice. She pops up on the right side, open net, goalie still on the other side, and elegantly places the puck where it is supposed to be..... IN THE NET! 4-2 FLYERS.
Good on ya FLYERS! What an awesome show of good fun, hard work and incredible dedication during a very tiring and short handed game.
                                                GO FLYERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
