FINALLY!
Our 6th game of the season happened to be our first against one of the other Dorchester teams. No pressure!

The DRAGONS season has started out with a 5 game streak.... of loses. Despite the loses, the kids have come off the ice with smiles on their faces after every game. Even though it's hard to keep losing, we know that it won't happen EVERY game this year.......and today was the day to turn off the streak!

We headed out on a 2 kilometer voyage to the Flight Exec Centre where we faced Atom LL1. First time we would face our friends as opponents. The kids convened 40 minutes early in the dressing room to enjoy some pre game banter and kit layout. With only two pases left for the Zamboni, the kids huddled together in the middle of the dressing room to chant their rally cheer...... 1.2.3. DRAGONS!!!!!!

Our warm up went very well and all the spectators had a glimmer of hope in their eye... so did the coaches....so did the kids. The buzzer sounds and the starting line up takes their stance. The puck drops and the DRAGONS are instantaniouly on fire!  The DRAGONS were all over the puck and this lasted for most of the first period. Our goalie, Cool-Hand Clint, took 7 shots in the first and saved each of them with utter skill and determination; he never took his eyes off the puck. Every time the puck neared his crease, Cool-Hand Clint pounced, saved and covered the black disc! Atom LL1 gave it their best but were no match for Clint this period. The DRAGONS never got a shot but were able to dominate the play and fend of the attack when it came.

Into the second and the game is scoreless. The Ref drops the puck and the DRAGONS take immediate possession. Notorious Nathan wins the drop and passes it back to our D but it goes too deep. Terrific Ty chases the puck with Atom LL1 on his heels. He snags the puck and heads behind the net. He looks up and sees Keegan-the- Kool at the wing. Ty makes the board pass and it's picked up by Keegan. Seeing this, Nathan heads up ice and Keegan has his eyes on the play. Keegan makes a mid-ice pass to Nathan and they both head right for the net. Nathan has the puck; Keegan is at his side. Seeing the slot is open, Nathan pulls back and  fires a 90 MPH shot at the net. The goalie didn't even see the blur as the puck hits the back of the net so hard it pulls the netting to it's max stretch and then drops to the ice....  GOAL!!!!!! Only 38 seconds into the second and the score is 1-0 DRAGONS. Clint took many more shots in this period but, again, saved them all. The rest of the period was a display of equal skill and endurance as the puck went back and forth between each end.

The third starts and the score is 1-0 DRAGONS. With hope and excitement, the fans are on the edges of their seats; the coaches are biting their nails and the players are elated! Atom LL1 gets the puck drop and heads directly to our net. The shot is released. It was a hard one and it hits Clint right in the mask. Clint flashes the leather and into the glove the puck drops..... mask to glove... what expertise! The face off happens and Atom LL1 come out the victor. They make haste at our net. They take a shot, but Clint saves it and it drops to the ice from his pads. As taught, Atom LL1 is there for the rebound and this one makes it's way into our net. The score is now 1-1. Clint makes many more fantastic saves this period, but keep in mind...... the DRAGONS have had only one shot this entire game.... and we scored! The buzzer sounds and the game is over.

FINALLY... the DRAGONS play a game that does not result in a loss. Well done DRAGONS. You all played so well. This was the best game we played this season. You all played with such determination!

GO DRAGONS !!!!!!!
