IS IT HOCKEY OR RED HOT BRIAR ACTION?
Today's game was a much needed win for the DRAGONS. With hopes of making the "A" division playoffs, every win counts at this point; but it only counts if the kids are having fun doing it!

With only three regular season games left, the DRAGONS (18-3-0) pulled off a much needed win to keep us in the running for the payoffs. But it didn't come easy.
The DRAGONS dominated the puck in the first period and spent most of it in front of Lancers' net. Despite all efforts, the DRAGONS launched 18 shots in the first and were unable to bury the black frozen disc on any of them.
The goalies switch sides, the buzzer sounds and the puck drops. The second period has begun. As the fans watch and the coaches coach, the kids continue to play their game. The second period is moving along just like the first and we all wonder if we'll see another scoreless period. Even if we did, the play was so intense that it would have satisfied the hungry fans and their love of minor hockey! Nearly 6 minutes pass and the tides swiftly change. The incredible skill of the DRAGONS' defensemen keep the puck out of our zone and get it onto the blade of #10, Wade Devine. Wade makes his way from centre ice and ends up directly in front of the Lancer net. He pulls back and takes a shot which hits the goalie's pads and drops just to his left. #14, Fisher Blair is standing exactly where he should have been and one times it high up on the right top corner of the net! Only a few goals in this game, but it has started! Time of the goal marked as 4:01. The players change shift and all head to centre ice for the drop. The Lancers take possession and send the puck rocketing into our end. #9, Matthew McCague stops it at the hash marks and sends it directly to #2, Mike Walsh. Keeping true to his trademark, Mike goes coast to coast. From the hash marks, through traffic and now going head-to-head with the goalie, Mike feigned a backhand, dragged the puck back to his forehand and blasted it past the Lancer goalie. 2-0 DRAGONS; still a close game.
With the clock now set at 15:00 minutes, the third period begins. The heated play continues and it seems none of the kids are tired. Only minutes into the period, the puck finds itself in front of the Lancer net once again. #11, Ian McIntyre finds himself the king of the puck and takes a killer shot. The puck bounces of the goalies chest and lands just in front of him. #4, Molly Reintjes is there to support Ian and starts digging at the puck, which the goalie does not yet have possession of. Molly pushes it at the net; rebound, so she pushes again; rebound. The puck is drifting ever so slightly to the goalie's left with each sweeping push, but the goalie isn't moving with it. One more push and Molly seems to have used her non-existent curling skills to sweep the puck into the small emptiness on the left of the net. The fans were just treated to some unexpected red hot Briar action at it best! 3-0 DRAGONS! Only seconds later, a tricky pass by us in front of our own net cost us a goal. Now 3-1 DRAGONS.  At 11:11, Mike went to the box of shame for tripping after he was taken down on his way to make an attempt on goal. Yes, I can't figure this one out either, but that was the call and we're stickin' to it. The DRAGONS held their own and made the penalty kill. The end score stands at 3-1 DRAGONS!

GO DRAGONS !!!!!!
