OMHA CHAMPS!!! 'RED HATS'
The Dorchester Dragons Novice BB hockey team had an outstanding 2014-2015 season with a record of 66-8-3. Winning all 3 tournaments, 1 Regional Silver Stick, 1 International Silver Stick & 1 OMHA!!!
The Novice BB team won their 1st tournament in the Huronia (Collingwood) Oct 17-19 with a record of 5-0-0. The team then went on to win their very own 45th Annual Dave Clarke Memorial Tournament in Dorchester Nov 7-9, with another outstanding record of 5-0-0. The Dragons then played in the Bradford Blue & Gold Classic Tournament two weeks later (Nov 21-23) winning all 6 games with another amazing record of 6-0-0. The determined Novice BB team never gave up as they played in the Pelham Regional Silver Stick over the Christmas Holidays (Dec 27-29) also winning all 5 games (5-0-0) which qualified them for International Silver Stick. The Dragons were off to International Silver Stick in St. Clair Shores Michigan Jan 23-25 with their lanyards and pins, for some fun hours of pin trading between hockey games. This was a very exciting weekend for the boys as they meet kids from all over Ontario and USA and traded some amazing pins with them, that they will keep as a memory for years to come. The Novice BB Dragons went on to win the International Silver Stick Championship that weekend, with a record of 6-0-0. The teams name will be put on a plaque in the Toronto Hockey Hall of Fame for their International Championship win. With 5 tournament wins under their belts, the next achievement was to win OMHA (all of Ontario's)! The Dragons played a few round robin games & advanced to the OMHA quarter finals playing Mooretown Jr. Flags in a 5 game series. The Dragons lost their 1st game to the Jr. Flags' 1-0, but then went on to beat them in the next 3 games, which advanced them to the OMHA Semi Finals against Strathroy Jr. Rockets. The Dragons managed to win the 1st game against the Jr. Rockets 6-2, but then lost game 2 in Dorchester 4-3. The Dragons then came back to win the next two games, which advanced them to OMHA Finals vs. Erin-Hillsburg. The hard-working Dragons won the first game in Dorchester 8-5. They went back to Erin-Hillsburg last Tuesday winning their second game 3-1. With a packed house of Dorchester fans in the Erin-Hillsburgh arena the Novice BB won the OMHA final game 4-3 on Saturday, with an outstanding record of 3-0-0, earning them the famous RED HAT & 2014-2015 OMHA title!!! The team came back to the Dorchester Mill Pond Tap & Grill to Celebrate their BIG OMHA WIN!!!
