Dragons Paint the Town Pink
The U13 LL2 competed in the Simcoe Arms/Marci Cook Memorial tournament this past weekend. The players wore custom pink socks, and the goalies had custom pink jerseys for the tournament. Even some of the coaches wore pink during the tournament. The Dragons went 3-0 in the round robin scoring 19 goals and only allowing 1 against.
The Dragons met the West Lincoln Flying Donkeys in the semifinals. It was a tough game, and the teams traded the lead back and forth. The Dragons prevailed with a goal by Xavier Papel in the third to win 4-3.
THE FINALS
The Dragons met the host Simcoe Warriors 1 in the finals. The teams played hard and the goaltenders on both sides kept the game 0-0 until Ryan Bachert broke the deadlock to give the Dragons the lead. Theo Vergiris added an insurance marker to seal the victory for the Dragons. Derek Jurjens was present the goaltender award for the finals and Theo Vergiris the MVP award.
The Dragons now move onto the LMLL Playoffs and hope to cap off this historic season with the league championship.
