U13 LL1 WINS LEFROY CHRISTMAS CLASSIC
The U13 LL1 Dorchester Dragons hockey team has secured a thrilling victory at the 2024 Lefroy Christmas Classic, capping off a remarkable tournament run with an exciting final that had fans on the edge of their seats.

The Dragons faced off against tough competition throughout the weekend, ultimately claiming the championship title in a decisive 2-1 win over the Rayside Balfour Wildcats. The victory marks the U13 LL1 Dorchester Dragons second tournament victory of the season.

“This win means so much to the entire team,” said head coach Andrew Elliott, visibly proud of his players’ hard work and dedication. “The boys showed incredible heart, especially in the final. They executed the game plan perfectly, and it’s a reflection of all the hours they’ve put in on the ice and in practice.”

The Dragons opened the tournament strong, cruising through their preliminary games with an impressive 2-0-1 record. Their offense was clicking, and the defence was strong keeping the shots to a minimum.  The goalie tandem to Dow and Pietarinen sealed up the net like a brick wall only allowing 6 goals in the tournament.

In the championship final, it was a balanced team effort that secured the victory. After a tight first period that saw neither team score the Dragons broke open the game with one goal in the second period and one in the third.  The wildcats were able to get one back with 4:29 left in the third, but it was too late as the Dragons played great defence and secured the win.
