Update on Tryouts
Here is an update
on the tryout process.
As I have
told the players there will be no cuts until after Monday’s game.
I have been
impressed with the level of effort and skill so far.
Ultimately the decision of who is selected will be based on:
· Hockey skills
· Athleticism
· Character (grit, willingness to move on after a disappointing situation (a missed shot/a bad pass for ex), persistence and communication))
· Positive attitude / behaviour
· Dedication to this team
· Team unity
· Willingness to be coached and to improve skills.
As I have shared with the players, I am looking for a team that will be built on speed, passing and team effort. Hitting is part of the game and has a role to play, however our team will not be based on retaliation and unnecessary hits with the intent to hurt or get even. This type of hitting leads to penalties and penalties hurt the team.
Game is at 6 pm in Strathroy, September 16, 2019
Arrive at 5:15 with a water bottle.
