2019 /2020 Midget BB Tryouts
Submitted By Mike Gibson on Monday, August 19, 2019
I would like to welcome all players and parents to this year's Midget BB tryouts.  I hope everyone had a great summer. This letter is to inform everyone involved about the tryout process.  There will be a total of 7 tryout skates listed below. All updates will be posted on the team website.

Players must have Rowan's Law acknowledgement form completed and hand in prior to going on ice.

Players bring your own water bottles.

Tuesday Sept 3 @ 9pm - First skate
Thursday Sept 5 @ 9pm -  Red / White game (1st release)
Friday Sept 6 @ 8:30pm - Exhibition Game vs Lambeth (in Lambeth)
Sunday Sept 8 @ 2pm - Exhibition Game vs Tillsonburg (in Tillsonburg)
Monday Sept 9 @ 9pm - Red / White Game
Friday Sept 13 @ 7:25pm - Exhibition Game vs Strathroy (in Strathroy)
Saturday Sept 14 @ 4pm - Exhibition Game vs Strathroy (in Dorchester)

Players, I realize many of you trying out have other commitments that are also very important to you (jobs, school and Jr Tryouts) I respect these and will do my best to accommodate. That being said, positions on this team will be earned on the ice.  Please let myself know asap of any dates you will  be unable to attend.

During the tryouts, players will be evaluated on the following:

                                             1. hockey skills and knowledge
                                             2. work ethic
                                             3. attitude and behavior
                                             4. ability to follow instructions

Players should be reminded that evaluations begin the moment they walk into the arena. The players will be observed on their behavior both on and off the ice. All I ask is that each player give a full effort on the ice and listens when instructions are given. If a player is not sure of any instruction, please ask any of the instructors on the ice. Lastly, good luck and HAVE FUN!!!

Myself, the coaching staff, and third party evaluators will be doing player assessments during each ice time, and will not discuss any results with anyone outside of these individuals. There will be no cuts made until completion of the 2nd ice time. At this time, a roster of those making the initial cut will be posted on the DMHA website. In past years we have had players pull themselves out for a variety of reasons. As a coach I ask you let me know asap. These cuts can and will effect the evaluators decisions moving forward.

Previous experience does not guarantee placement on this team and all players will be given equal consideration during the tryout process.

Being on a travel team requires a high level of commitment, for both practices and games. I would like to know if there will be players that are not able to attend our scheduled practice times on Wednesday nights (times TBD) and home games Monday nights @ 8pm. It is not fair to me or the other members of the team if there are players not making a full commitment. So, as a courtesy to me, I would appreciate it if a player is unable to fulfill this commitment to notify me prior to the 3rd tryout. This information will be considered when choosing the final roster.

Rep Team Try-Out Fee

For anyone that did not pay the $55 tryout fee online when registering, you will be required to pay an $80 fee at the first tryout prior to participating in the tryout process.
The try-out fee permits an eligible player to try out for a rep team (BB and/or AE) in his/her age category. Each player may skate in a minimum of 2 of the first 3 try-out sessions with the BB team before being eligible for release from that team, and/or a minimum of 1 of the first 2 skates with the AE team. Please note that try-out fees are not refundable after the player joins the first try-out session.

I wish all players GOOD LUCK and look forward to seeing all players show their skills and give it their best effort.
