Dragons take Prince Edward County
Congrats to our PeeWee BB's as we won the 9th annual MILK Tournament this past weekend in beautiful Prince Edward County.
After a slow start, we found ourselves with a record of 1-1 and needing a victory over the 2-0 Caledonia Thunder on Saturday night for a chance to get into the semis. The boys came out with lots of energy and dominated from start to finish en route to a 4-0 victory.
That ensured us a spot in the semis on Sunday morning with our close geographical rival, Mt Brydges. After scoring in the 2nd period, we were holding on to a slim 1-0 margin for most of the game. Mt Brydges then tied it with less than 4 minutes remaining. Our boys did not feel sorry for themselves and came back with one of their own with just over a minute left. Add an empty netter and you have a 3-1 victory and a berth in the finals.
That's where we would run into the previously undefeated Lindsay Muskies. A strong opponent, for sure, our boys knew it would take our best effort to earn the gold.....and that's what they gave. With goals in every period, we jumped out to a 4-0 lead and ended up winning the gold medal game 4-1.
Congratulations to all the players, and thanks to all the parents for their dedication so far this year.
