Your team schedule will be posted to this site.
Please sign up for the text message or email message if a change in schedule occurs.

RBC – Development Grant/Mike Cormier
DMHA was successful in receiving a development grant from RBC again this year.  The grant will be used to bring Mike Cormier in to run the skating development for the program.
As a result of receiving this grant, we will be running a “fun day” for skaters.  More details to follow.  We will also be responsible for reporting metrics, and therefore, will be surveying parents and collecting data throughout the year.

On-Ice Coordinators and On-Ice Helpers
We are currently in need of two On-Ice Coordinators (one for each Saturday ice time) who will work with Mike Cormier to run practices and coordinate on-ice helpers.

We are also in need of On-Ice Helpers.  All On-Ice Helpers must have a recent Police Vulnerable Sector Check (valid for 3 years).

If you have previously submitted a recent Vulnerable Sector Check, the following form must be completed (each year): http://dorchesterdragons.ca/Public/Documents/2016/Volunteer_Criminal_Offence_Declaration_Form.pdf

If you are interested in committing to either of these positions, please let me know as soon as possible.

Jr. Tyke Manager
Kristy Beldman will be our Jr. Tyke Manager for this year.  She will assist in coordinating the program.  If you have questions you can email either of us.  ([email protected])

Jr. Tyke Tournament Donation
Each DMHA team (Jr. Tyke is considered one team) is responsible to donate a minimum donation for the DMHA hosted tournaments.  We will be collecting a toonie from each parent at uniform pick-up.

Bond Hours
You are required to complete 4 bond hours per child registered with DMHA, to a maximum of 8 hours.  To sign up for bond positions, please refer to the website:  http://dorchesterdragons.ca/Pages/1159/Bonds_Volunteers/

Name Bars
You will have the opportunity to order a name bar for the back of your child’s jersey.  We will be taking orders and payment for name bars during uniform pick-up.  The cost is $12.

Yellow Tickets
During registration, you paid $100 for our yellow ticket. Lottery fundraiser.  Yellow tickets have not yet been distributed but are expected in early October.  Kristy and I will ensure that they are distributed to all parents.
You can sell these tickets (keep the money you make) or fill them out yourself.  Completed tickets need to be dropped into the black drop box between the two rinks (hanging on the mural wall by the doors to the South rink, under the schedule TV).  The first draw is Nov 1st .  Please submit your tickets before that date.

Special Events & Black Outs

There are three times before Christmas where the ice has been blacked out for tournaments being held in Dorchester.  This means no regular practices on these weekends.  (October 29-30, November 12-13, November 26-27)
There is no hockey on Thanksgiving weekend and during the 2 week break at Christmas. Reminders will be sent by email and posted on the website.

All Jr. Tyke players are invited to skate during the first intermission of the Knights game on Friday, February 3rd.  Tickets to the game are required and will be sold at a cost of $18 each.  More details to follow.

Uniforms
Children will be required to have the full equipment including the mouth guard.
Names should be labelled on helmets and sticks.  Helmet names should be visible for the coaches to easily address your child by name.  Jerseys and socks are provided by the DMHA.  Uniform pick-up will be scheduled during the week of October 10th.  Make sure your child has the proper size stick.  Youth sticks can be purchased at Canadian Tire for approx. $25.  Please also ensure that your child’s equipment fits properly.  If your child does not have a jersey or socks for the first weekend, you are welcome to borrow some.

Respect In Sport
One parent for each skater must complete the Respect In Sport Course online.  More information can be found on the DMHA website here:  http://dorchesterdragons.ca/Pages/3670/Respect_in_Sport/.
The RIS must be completed before the first official practice (October 15th).  You do not need to notify us once you have completed the RIS course.  You do not have to do the RIS course again if you have already completed it.

Picture Day
Picture Day will be scheduled in late November.  More details will follow by email.
