4 UP, 4 DOWN.......
........ but, my goodness, it wasn't easy!!!!!!!!!!

When the FLYERS entered the Tillsonburg Hockey Moms Tournament, little did we know we would come out the Champions. Incredible amounts of dedication, hard work and sweat was what brought these coaches and players to their well deserved victory.
Game #1 was at 9:00 on Saturday against the home town, Tillsonburg Blue. They opened up the scoring early in the first with two goals, but the FLYERS' very own Owen answered with one. One more goal for us in the second. Tied at 2-2 going into the third, Sam and Carson both knocked in one a piece which were very quickly matched with two from Tillsonburg. This is where the FLYERS’ clearly had had enough and blew a giant hole in the previously very close game. Between 4:05 and 2:04, the FLYERS tipped 3 talented goals into Tillsonburg’s net and ended game one with a 7-4 win.
After a 2 hour fun filled team lunch, the FLYERS headed into their second game at 3:00pm against Belmont. No goals were seen until 4:54 in the first when Carson blasted one by their goalie only to be answered by a goal from Molly, at 4:49, who was in the crease waiting to pick up some leftovers. One minute later, Camryn goes coast to coast and dumps one in the net. The third period is when the scoring opened right up. Belmont rings one past Cayden early in the period but the FLYERS net three more in the last 3 minutes of play. Final score, 7-1 FLYERS
As directed by Coach Jeff, a good night’s sleep ensured all FLYERS were on their mark for the Semi Finals on Sunday morning, which I’ll call “The Day Of Dorchester”.
Sunday morning; 10:15am; Colin Campbell Arena; Dorchester FLYERS vs. Dorchester Bruins. This is the awaited Semi-Final match to see who advances to the Finals at noon. Within 11 seconds of the game starting, Owen flies a top shelf shot right by the goalie and the FLYERS fans in the stands jump for joy. The Bruins reply shortly after with one of their own and the game is tied at 1-1. The only goal in the second is by our own Slick Sam, and again, at 11 seconds into the period. The game sits at 2-1, for the FLYERS for the next 14 minutes of play which brings us well into the third period. The game is still up for grabs by either of the teams. With only 5 minutes left in the game, the players, coaches and fans are all feeling excited yet slightly nervous to see who will come out on top. Then suddenly, the FLYERS strike again and score two goals both within 25 seconds of each other. The Bruins are a great team and a score of 4-1 with almost 5 minutes left does not mean a thing… they could easily come back and score a few more goals very quickly. As expected the Bruins score another goal near the end after pulling their goalie but the buzzer sounds and the FLYERS advance to the Finals.
Championship game; noon; Memorial Arena; Dorchester FLYERS vs. Dorchester Dragons. The Dragons scored the first goal of the game in the first period. They held the lead until 2:37 in the second when Carson scored a brilliant goal by beating the goalie with a ground floor slide after receiving a lovely pass from Birthday Boy Joel. 1-1; tension is in the air. Early in the third, the Dragons get two leaving us trailing again by two. Owen manages to bring us closer at 4:52 by putting the blue beast where it belongs. Only 45 seconds left and it looks like we will take second place. With a look of determination and perhaps a hint of revenge in his eye, defenseman Slick Sam gets the puck from a Dragon in our zone and heads to theirs. There is no stopping Sam as he weaves his way through five Dragons and ends up facing only one lonely Dragon defenseman. Good night Irene…. He SCORES with 41.6 seconds left in the game and the FLYERS take the Gold for the 2014 Tillsonburg Hockey Moms Tyke Tournament.

Every FLYER contributed to this victory! The following is each player and what they each do so well to make the FLYERS the great team they are:
#3 Rowan Walsh - not fearing the play and moving the puck up ice
#4 Molly Reintjes - engaging the opposing goalie in small talk whereby distracting him and driving him absolutely insane, and chirping the refs
#5 Joel Hoornick - fantastic work along the boards and his constant smile
#6 Camryn Ryall - always coming away from the scrum with the puck and always giving 100%
#7 Sam Willsie - incredible speed and NHL quality determination
#8 Holly Brulotte - chasing the puck and always focusing on the play
#9 Alex Dutton - stopping players dead in their tracks and presiding over the pre-game meditation
#10 Bryce Steinmann - consistently carrying the puck forward and never ending optimism
#11 Carson Thomas - non- stop hustle and impeccable stick handling
#12 Cayden Murphy - natural ability to save shots and working the crowd
#13 Grayson Doherty - incredible defence and clearing the puck by blasting it to the other end using the boards
#14 Owen Gray - real hockey fanaticism and end to end rushes

CONGRATS FLYERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
